TYPES OF INDUSTRIAL AIR COMPRESSORS

When purchasing industrial air compressors it is important that you ensure they are the best ones to use in your industry. You should consider several factors including pressure level, air capacity and operation method. This will determine whether you can use it to get the results that you want in the industry or not. The right air compressor should be capable of delivering enough pressure levels and airflow for the task that you have. However, you will also have to balance the performance of the air compressor with other considerations such as durability and cost. The compressed air is measured in CFM. When a machine has a high CFM requirement, it means that you need a powerful air conditioner. There are several types of industrial air compressors that are available in the market. You should know how these different types are operated to be able to determine which one would be the best to use.
There is the reciprocating compressor that is ideal for most of the industries. It is under the positive displacement air compressors. These are compressors that compress the air through volume reduction and consequently increasing its pressure. The reciprocating compressor is made of two pumps that are driven by piston and cylinder. These are the parts that compress and displace the air. The reciprocating compressor is further divided into the belt drive compressor and the direct drive compressor. These two compressor work differently but use the same techniques. The benefit of using reciprocating industrial air compressors is that they are portable and can be used in the construction industry and other similar fields.
The rotary screw compressors also fall under the positive displacement air compressors. It is made up of two helical screws that have been meshed together to allow air through it and then compress it. This operation is generally smoother as compared to the use of pistons that causes vibrations and surges. These compressors are durable and require less maintenance work. They can be used for numerous applications in the industries because of their versatile nature.
The last type of air compressors is the centrifugal compressor. This uses momentum that is gained by a rotating disk to transfer and increase the air pressure. It falls under dynamic displacement compressors. It is used for various applications including operating turbochargers and superchargers in vehicles, driving pneumatic systems and also in HVAC systems. You should choose industrial air compressors based on their type and performance.
