Factors that will help you determine the Right Industrial Air Compressors



Industries have air tools and industrial air compressors that drive them saves the user time and money for the application. Generally, compressed air tools are more powerful and lightweight than standard electric tools or battery powered cordless tools. Even if there are several types of industrial air compressors, they essentially work on the same principle that when air is forced into a smaller space, pressure increases and this pressure is used to drive motion. The ability to choose the right kind of industrial air compressor is an important part of maximizing efficiency while reducing costs.
Establishing the power requirements from the industrial air compressors
It would be relatively easy to choose the right air compressor if you know your power requirements but if you don’t it has to come in the form of pressure and airflow rating.
-        Pressure rating – is either in pounds per square inch (psi) or bar which is the number of atmospheres. These figures denote the recommended pressure that the air is delivered from the compressor to the tool being used for optimal performance.
-        Airflow rating – is either in cubic feet per minute (cfm) or liters per minute. These are the measurements of how quickly compressed air needs to be delivered so as to ensure continuous operation.
After establishing the power requirements of all your tools and machinery, you should determine which tools you will be using concurrently and then add all their respective airflow ratings. The total amount will be bare minimum airflow capacity that the industrial air compressor needs in order to run all your tools together. As to the pressure requirements, you need to ensure that the tool which requires the highest operational pressure will be satisfied with your choice for air compressor.

It is not only pressure and airflow that has to be considered in industrial air compressors but the quality of air that will be delivered so as to meet certain requirements. For example, oil is important in order to lubricate the parts of the air compressor so it is not uncommon for compressed air to have small traces of oil which is unacceptable when used for medical applications. If you are only powering pneumatic tools, there needn’t be an issue but if clean air is required by the application, you have the option of using filter for the industrial air compressors or buy what is known as the oil-free air compressor.
Reducing damage due to moisture
Water vapor is always present in the atmosphere and when ambient air is compressed, water vapor will often condensate into water droplets that can cause severe damage to the industrial air compressors particularly when there is prolonged exposure. You can opt for an additional dryer that is purchased separately and fitted to the air compressor.
Minimizing common temperature-related problems
When gas expands, it becomes cool but when it is compressed, it becomes hot. The use of compressed air will always be affected by temperature fluctuations which can be solved by a cooler that functions the same way as an air conditioner.
