THE CLASSIFICATIONS OF INDUSTRIAL ADHESIVE

The industrial adhesive is available in several varieties depending on the application that you have. It is a very important product that is used to make fastening applications easier especially in the manufacturing industries. It is capable of joining two or more materials together. There are several classifications of the industrial adhesive based on some factors. In some cases, organic and inorganic chemical compounds are used in the classification. This is where the industrial sealants are formed. These are products that are used to seal gaps between surfaces to avoid infiltration and leakages. In addition to this, the classification of this adhesive can be based on the chemical composition or the adhesion properties.
The classification based on the chemical composition of the adhesive has several categories. One of the categories is the acrylate adhesives. They are commonly used in the industries because they are more resistant to environmental conditions. They cure faster compared to the other adhesives. The cyanoacrylates are the other category. They are usually referred to as super glues or instant adhesives because they create a bond instantly on the mated surfaces. The last type is known as epoxy adhesive and is used to join compounds together. The other types of adhesives are phenolic, polyurethane, rubber and formaldehyde adhesives.
The other classification is based on the adhesion properties. Adhesion refers to the ability of certain materials to stick firmly to other materials. It is this property that creates another category for the industrial adhesives. There is the hot melt adhesive that has to undergo a softening process then left to cool for them to form the bond. This allows for some level of flexibility whereby you can reposition materials while performing the assembly. There is also the pressure adhesive that is capable of performing its duties as long as minimal pressure is applied on the contacting surfaces. It is also referred to as contact adhesives. The other type of adhesive is known as UV curing adhesive. It makes used of ultraviolet light to start the curing process. The thermal adhesive on the other hand makes use of heat or a combination of pressure and heat to sustain the curing process. The industrial adhesive that you will select is largely dependent on the type of application that you have and the resources that you can access. It is important that you deal with reputable adhesive manufacturers and suppliers for the best products. You can also seek professional assistance on which adhesives are the best to use in your industry.
