Prevent Downtime through Industrial Air Compressor Repair



Many industries are practically dependent upon compressed air to run their tools and equipment. Industrial air compressors are the driving force behind machining and fabrication shops for operating their various machineries. Road construction and mining also make use of air compressors as an alternative source of power for their equipment. Given the different ways that air compressors are used, a breakdown can certainly result into downtime that would seriously affect the project; however, there are many facilities that offer industrial air compressor repair regardless of type or model.
The importance of regular maintenance
The best way with which to ensure that the air compressor will work function efficiently is through regular maintenance. Most maintenance tasks are performed by in-house technicians or companies that provide industrial air compressor repair. Certain repairs are specific to some compressor types but there are typical problems that can be solved easily through maintenance work.
-        Air filters have to be inspected and cleaned weekly and changed monthly; however, when the air compressor is used in a dusty environment where dust and debris could easily accumulate on the air filters, cleaning should be done more frequently.
-        Oil should also be checked weekly and changed when necessary. Manufacturers also provide suggestions on the right intervals for oil change.
-        Inlet filters also have to be inspected regularly and changed as necessary.
-        Most air leaks are easy to fix. Check piping and joints regularly for air and water leaks,
-        Compressors should always be kept clean from debris and dirt to prevent the air filters from being clogged.
-        Belts should be checked for wear and tension and replaced accordingly.
-        It is not a bad idea to keep a log on inspection dates and services performed through industrial air compressor repair so that there is an existing reference as to the condition of the air compressor.
How to check for air leaks
If your air tools seem short on power, there is the possibility for compressor air leaks and the right amount of air is not reaching your tools. In order to check for leaks, you have to follow these steps:
-        Remove all tools and their hoses, turn on the air compressor and allow it to charge
-        Spray some soapy water around the compressor fittings and look for bubbles that indicate where air is leaking.
-        Pull the stop valve so as to release pressure
-        Make use of wrench to remove fittings on the area where you noticed the air bubbles
-        Wrap the threads of the fitting with Teflon plumber’s tape, refasten them in place and tighten using the wrench.
-        Recharge the compressor again and repeat the same procedure of spraying soapy water on the fittings since some other fittings may also have leaks.
-        If the fittings continue to leak, you might need to replace the fittings.
Use the same procedure on the air compressor tank if you suspect that there are air leaks. If leaks appear, you will require industrial air compressor repair to check the equipment whether it can still be repaired or if a replacement is the only option.
